Mother's Day at Krishnayan

Celebrate Mother’s Day with Gau Mata
The Symbol of Selfless Love

Mother’s Day is a beautiful reminder to thank and celebrate the one person who has always been there for us, our mother. She loves us unconditionally, takes care of us without expecting anything in return, and her blessings stay with us forever. In India, the idea of a mother goes beyond just the one who gave us birth. We also see nature, the earth, and especially Gau Mata (the cow) as motherly figures who care for us deeply.
We celebrate Mother’s Day to show our love and respect for all that mothers do. It’s a chance to say thank you in a meaningful way. But along with our own mothers, there’s another silent giver who has always supported us, Gau Mata. Just like a mother, she nourishes us with milk, helps our farmers with natural fertilizers, and supports our environment. In our Indian culture, she is not just an animal, she is a sacred symbol of motherhood and life.
Nowadays, many people celebrate Mother’s Day with cakes, gifts, or outings. But this year, how about doing something more peaceful and meaningful? You can spend some time at a Gaushala, feed the cows with your own hands, or simply sit quietly and feel the calmness around them. Being around cows has a special kind of peace that touches the heart.
In our culture, we say “Maa ke charnon mein swarg hai, heaven lies at a mother’s feet. From our childhood, we are taught to respect not just our own mothers, but also those who care for us like mothers. That includes our Gau Mata, who has always given selflessly. Even Lord Krishna spent his childhood serving cows and playing in their company.
This Mother’s Day, let’s remember and honour every form of a mother. Whether it’s the one at home or the one at the Gaushala, each one gives us love, strength, and blessings. Let’s celebrate with gratitude and simplicity, and feel the warmth of motherhood in its truest form with Gau Mata.
